On paper the two differ in positioning and price. Prime is positioned as the accelerated version and costs 36% more per second at 480p and 40% more at 720p and 1080p. Pick Prime if turnaround matters more to you than price. Pick standard Wan 3.0 if price per second matters most. We have not timed either model, so we do not say how much faster Prime is.

03

Which one to pick, and what we have not measured

Both models are Alibaba’s Wan 3.0. The documented differences are the positioning and the price. This section stays with what is documented and says where our knowledge stops.

Pick Wan 3.0 Prime if turnaround matters more to you than price per second. Alibaba describes it as the accelerated version, “delivering significantly faster generation speed while maintaining high-quality output.” You pay 36% more per second at 480p and 40% more at 720p and 1080p.

Pick standard Wan 3.0 if price per second matters most. At 720p it lists at $0.10 per second against $0.14 for Prime. This site does not run it. It is listed at fal.ai.

What we have not measured:

  • Generation time for either model. We have no timings of our own and publish no speed figure.
  • Picture or sound quality side by side. All four recorded clips on this site are Prime.
  • Whether standard Wan 3.0 does what Prime did in our clips: music in place of the named sound effects in three of four, and a face that changed in one.

If speed is your reason for choosing Prime, time both models on your own prompts before you commit a budget. A list price is easy to check. A speed claim needs your own test.

Two Prime clips, as generated

Both clips were made with Wan 3.0 Prime through fal.ai: 5 seconds, 720p, sound on, $0.70 each at the API. We have no standard Wan 3.0 clips to set beside them.

A wave breaks against dark volcanic rocks at dusk and throws up a tall plume of spray lit orange by the low sun, with blue sea and scattered clouds behind.

Scene 01

Surf on volcanic rock at dusk

Spray and late light hold up well. The sound is a loud, continuous roar. It is the one clip of the four that came back with sound effects rather than music.

Prompt

Ocean waves crash against black volcanic rocks at dusk. Sea spray catches the last orange light; low, wide camera with a slow push-in. Roaring surf and wind. One continuous shot, no text.

Scene 02

Glassblower at the furnace

The glow of the glass is convincing. The worker’s face and hair change partway through the shot, and the sound is soft music, not the furnace crackle the prompt asked for.

Prompt

A fictional adult glassblower turns a glowing orange glass vase on a long metal pipe in a dark workshop, heat haze rising and small sparks falling. Slow push-in, furnace glow on the face, crackling furnace sounds. One continuous shot, no text or logos.
